San Diego Trip 2012 - Day 1 & 2

On April 12th we got up early (330am) and drove to San Diego to visit some friends for a long weekend.  I was worried about the long drive and how Aaden would do but he did really well.  It was good that we left early because he (and I) slept a lot of the way.  The only mishap on the trip down was Aaden getting sick over the Grapevine.  We had put a movie on for him on the portable DVD player and I think watching that combined with him still rear-facing in the car made him a little carsick.  We were able to pull off once we got off the Grapevine and get him cleaned up.  We got to San Diego at 11am - it only took us 7 hours!  I figured it would have been 8 especially with the few stops that we made.

Once we got there we said hi to Cristin and Lauren and unloaded the car.  We ate some lunch and then headed across the street to a great little park so the kids could run around and play.

That night we just hung out and had dinner and Cristin and Justin's.  It was nice and relaxing, just what we needed after a long day of driving.  The next day we got up and headed to San Diego State to walk around the campus.  Cristin, Justin and Aaron are all SDSU Alumni so they were looking forward to roaming around their alma mater.  We parked at Qualcomm Stadium and caught the trolley to SDSU.

We hit up the bookstore and Aaron bought a few things and we got Aaden a cute SDSU shirt. After that we had lunch at the Commons - which is essentially a food court. I ate Greek food and everyone else had Rubio's.

Aaden really loved sweeping while we were at the Commons.
After lunch we took some pictures in front of the famous Hepner Hall.  Which apparently is shown in the movie Bring It On - which I've never seen.  I'll keep a look out for it should I ever watch the movie.

And a better view of the building.  Pretty fascinating.
And that's the Munleys standing there!

After that we decided to head back to the house instead of going to downtown SD so the kids could nap.  It turned out to be a good decision, as soon as we got back to Justin and Cristin's it started POURING.  Like sheets of rain.  We were so thankful that we weren't stuck outside in it!  After the kiddos napped we headed to BJs Brewery for dinner.  The food was really good and it was a fun outing.  Keeping Aaden busy was a challenge as usual but at least we made it through a full meal without one of us having to get up and walk around with him.

And one picture after dinner to send to Emmy since she was missing him!
We had to get some sleep - the next day we were heading to the zoo!
